We’re excited to welcome Ngcwanguba Primary School into the Public Schools Partnerships (PSP) community. This brings the total number of PSP schools in Zithulele to four, and twelve across the full partnership. For us, each school that joins is an opportunity to work more closely with communities, school leadership and education officials to improve how schools function and how learners experience education.

Our school development team does not treat a school launch as just a ceremony or celebration. It marks the beginning of a working relationship that is built on trust, clarity and collaboration. It is also the outcome of careful preparation.
Once the school signs the Service Level Agreement (SLA), confirming its participation in the PSP, the hard work begins. The School Management Team (SMT), School Governing Body (SGB) and Axium’s School Development Managers meet over several sessions to look at important parts of the school’s culture and operations. These workshops focus on things like:
Reviewing and updating the school’s vision, mission and values
Clarifying the roles of the SGB and the Representative Council of Learners (RCL)
Looking at the school’s daily routine and the code of conduct
These sessions are a chance for school teams to step back from the day to day and think about where the school is going, how it is being led and what values are guiding it. Once this process is complete, the school is ready to be launched.

Ngcwanguba’s launch showed just how meaningful this process can be. A parent, a teacher and a learner shared the school’s vision, mission and values, highlighting that everyone has a role to play in shaping the school. The launch itself brought the whole school community together. Learners, parents, teachers, SGB members, district officials and Axium team members all gathered to mark the occasion, reminding us that the school is not working in isolation but as part of a wider network of support and accountability.
As one of our School Development Managers said, “We don’t just dress the school from the inside. It also has to look beautiful from the outside.” With the new South African and school flags raised high, and freshly printed vision and values posters displayed in the admin block, Ngcwanguba is visibly and proudly stepping into its new chapter.

We are proud to be working alongside Ngcwanguba Primary and look forward to what lies ahead. There is still a lot to do, but the foundation is strong, and that is where it all begins.
