While academic results remain an important milestone, the true impact of the Class of 2025 is reflected in what happens beyond matric, in how learners transition into new opportunities and begin shaping their futures.

To better understand this journey, we hear from three Axium alumni reflecting on their experiences before, during, and after their time in the program:

Asithandile Mbambe: I was a learner at Bazindlovu Senior Secondary School, where I developed an interest in subjects like English, Mathematics, and Physical Sciences. “My journey with Axium began in 2020, when I was selected to attend extra classes on Saturday from Grade 10 to 12. I attended sessions at Sea View SSS and later in Upper Mpako. These classes provided me with additional academic support and helped me understand the subjects. Being chosen to be part of this programme motivated me to work harder and stay focused on my goals.”

“I am now working as part of the Axium Alumni network, contributing as a Paragon. In I want to study Analytical Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or pursue a career in teaching. I see myself becoming independent, obtaining my degree and Honours, and building a life where I am living my dreams.”

Sihle Banjwa: My name is Sihle Banjwa. I began my journey with Axium Education in 2016, where I attended the Masakhane Program in Grade 8 and 9, focusing on English and Mathematics. I then moved to the Ekukhuleni Programme, where I continued with Mathematics and English, and also added Physical Sciences.

The extra classes provided by Axium helped me understand my subjects better and gave me more time to practice. This helped me remember my work throughout the year and improved my performance. It also boosted my confidence and made me believe more in myself. Currently, I am part of the Axium program as Paragon, where I assist learners with Mathematics and Physical Sciences. I have finished school and I am now waiting for my graduation. I also studied towards a Diploma in ICT Application Development at Walter Sisulu University.

I may seem like a big dreamer, but in the next five years, I see myself owning a busy and successful app. I want to create a school application app that makes it easier for learners and parents to apply for college and university. In our rural communities, many people have to travel long distances just to go schools and apply in person. As a start, I want to introduce an online application system so that learners can apply to schools from anywhere. This will save time, reduce costs, and make the process easier for everyone”.

Ovayo Tatinyawo: My name is Ovayo Tatinyawo. I attended Upper Mpako SSS in 2025. I started attending the Axium program at the end of 2023, where I studied Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and English.

Axium provided me with resources that improved my understanding and helped explain difficult questions, which prepared me well for my examinations. The program also gave me an opportunity to stand in front of my classmates and present my knowledge on different topics, which helped build my confidence.

Currently, I am assisting in Axium study groups, supporting other learners with their studies.

I am interested in pursuing Radiography, and in the next five years, I see myself working as a qualified Radiographer”.

As learners step out of these spaces, the impact becomes more visible. Many are entering universities and colleges as first generation higher education students, navigating new environments with resilience and determination. Others are pursuing alternative pathways with a clearer sense of direction, contributing meaningfully within their communities and local economies.

Ultimately, Axium’s impact extends beyond final-year results. It is reflected in the opportunity's learners are able to access, the confidence they carry with them, and the pathways they begin to carve out for themselves.

The journey of the Class of 2025 is still unfolding and, in that journey, lies the true measure of Axium’s impact.
